David:
You forgot to include me! Along with Bryan, I am one of the original Savage Hardtail Conversion riders! Bryan has a photo of my "dropped" '97 Savage...ask HIM how it looks! I'm from an era when "factory hardtail" rigid-frame Davidson Panheads were rolling off the Milwaukee assembly line. This was before they had any kind of rear suspension at all!
It is my opinion that a hardtail conversion is the simplest, least expensive, yet the most dramatic change it is possible to make on this motorcycle! As Bryan stated in an earlier post, "it gives a whole new personality" to the bike! (it's not for "tender butts", however)
Being 65 years old, my tastes and preferences in customizing are more conservative than they were in the '50's and '60's. However, I do plan on adding a few more custom "touches", such as having my side covers chromed, and maybe installing "mini-apes". (I'm expecting UPS to deliver my new muffler any day) Even though I'm 6'2", I find the stock seat, the stock bars, and the stock pegs perfectly comfortable!
Ride with Pride...
